Are family members welcome on tour?
Yes, family members, relatives and even friends are all welcome on tour. They will travel everywhere with the team, stay in the same hotels and even eat with the team. Adult family members may choose to stick close to the group or break off and explore on their own.
Is there a discount if more than one person from the same family travel on the tour?
At World Sports Alliance, we keep our tour costs as low as possible (usually $1,000 less per person than other sport tour companies) to make these exchange opportunities available to more athletes. For this reason, there is little room in the price for discounts.
Are meals included?
Yes, your tour cost includes three meals per day.
Do you provide a sports equipment package?
Yes, a typical equipment package includes as USA warm-up, gear bag, tee-shirt, trading pins and other misc. items. Equipment packages may vary between tours.
How are coaches selected?
We at World Sports Alliance pride ourselves on the quality of our tour coaching staffs. We actively recruit nationally recognized coaches to lead our teams abroad. Many of our coaches are former National Team Members and Olympians.
What kind of accommodations will we stay in?
Accommodations vary with each tour. One group may stay in a dormitory while another in a 5 star luxury hotel. We insure our accommodations are always safe and clean. Read our tour descriptions for specific housing information.
What type of competitions will we have?
Occasionally, we compete in an international tournament if the timing is right. With the majority of our tours, we arrange for a series of joint training sessions and team competitions. Team USA lines up in full parade uniform against foreign teams several times on each tour.
How many matches will each wrestler have?
This will vary based on the tour you select, but we try to insure each athlete receives at least 3 formal matches apart from the training sessions. In most cases, athletes come home having had 4-7 matches each. We have the best track record of any wrestling tour company for providing our athletes with a quality wrestling program. Having said that, we are reliant on our foreign hosts to provide our competitors and on a rare occasion it is possible to be let down. Our let downs are few because we have been setting up wrestling tours for more than 10 years and we work with reputable sports leaders in many countries.
Will wrestlers have to weigh-in for each match?
With our team competitions, we typically do not have a weigh-in at all. The USA coaching staff will meet with the various foreign coaching staffs to compare rosters. They will pair athletes according to approximate weights, ages and skill levels. We actually submit our rosters to the foreign tour organizers prior to our arrival, so they can insure they have the opponents to match up with our team. If we compete in a tournament there will most likely be one formal weigh-in. Read each tour description for more details.
